does everything beautiful emerge in spring?

soundtrack of spring

I rarely awaken before my alarm sounds. But this morning (April 19) I awoke to the soundtrack of spring. I think maybe it was a spring robin (drunk robin), or a yellow rump warbler, or maybe a song sparrow. Or perhaps it was a sweet and melodic choral mix of all their voices. And then later when my eyes were open, I noticed so many varieties of birds were flitting in and out of the Japanese maple with leaves unfolding in bright chartreuse. I'm wondering how might I paint the essence of the light, color, movement, and sounds of this scene. Hmmm...

This western tanager is in my yard this spring (along with some of his friends). Usually they migrate through in one day. But this year, they're staying a while. This is my first time getting a decent photo of one.

We've had dramatic weather this spring, including a micro-bursts which destroys like a tornado.  But the rainbow is a promise we won't be destroyed by world-wide flood. With sun and rain, we've had ots of rainbow sightings this spring.

Rosemary in bloom looks almost like tiny orchids.

I gave Mom this bleeding heart plant one mother's day a few years ago.

An upright fuchsia after a shower.

Blue cornflower is already opening. The blossoms have a subtle peach fragrance.

My tree peony is about to open.

A blue iris bud seems to wear a silk wrap.

Grandma and Grandpa planted these azaleas many years ago and they still bloom profusely. Love the glow.

This azalea blossom may have been partially torn in the wind storm (as a bud), but it's beautiful anyway.

This white flower was growing on the property fifty years ago when we moved here.

Mr. Tanager looking so cute...as if posing for the artist...right outside my window.

Amazing colors... here on the madrona tree bark.
