media
Each unique, inspired idea is expressed in the media that best empodies it. Some ideas are most clearly seen in black and white. Others are better revealed in full color oil paintings. Still others are better "said" in three-dimensional sculpture or embodied in a poem or a song.
As inspiration comes in a variety of forms, so also Steve Scheibe creates in a variety of media.
- hand-dyed silk
- stone impressions - a.k.a. stone lithography
- oil painting on canvas see also oil paintings in the gallery
- etched glass
- experimental glass
- silk inside laminated glass
- graphite drawing
- pastel painting
- 3-D
- sound
Applying experimental media in public art requires a greater investment of design research. Even so, Steve is always investigating new methods and media to give tangible expression to inspiration. Especially for studio art, the possibilities are without bounds. Most media experiments become gifts or remain in the artist's collection. Every endeavor adds to Steve's artisitic vocabulary and experience.
Steve currently is investigating experimental glass techniques.
